WHAT WE DO

We embark on capacity building activities for the communities.
These activities are to equip the people with knowledge and skills of initiating, managing, and sustaining their community-based projects/activities.

UWCM has maintained the vision of working with the most vulnerable people whose lives have improved and changed for the better in terms of socio-economic empowerment, education for children for professional and employable skills, the mountainous areas and hard to reach areas reached and people supported, many lives impacted, communities transformed i.e. they look at things with a new perspective now.

  • Increase household incomes for most vulnerable women, children, and PLWHAs.

Objectives:

  • Increase the understanding of women, children, and people living with HIV/AIDS about their problems, rights, responsibilities, and abilities so that they can take action to improve their situation
  • Improve the capacity of women, children, and their families to address needs and execute their rights in a sustainable way.
  • Contribute towards influencing policies, structures, and attitudes that oppress women, children, and PLWHAs and to create an enabling environment for them to lead fulfilled lives.
  • Build the capacity of children and their families to undertake their education and psycho-social needs.
  • Improve the learning/ teaching environment for better performance of children at risk in disadvantaged areas.

Strategic Objectives:

  • Increase household incomes for most vulnerable women, children, and PLWHAs.
  • Increase access to basic quality education for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and women especially the girl child in Elgon Zone.
  • Promote environmental protection, conservation, and food security in Elgon Zone.
  • Reduce HIV/AIDS prevalence and its associated impact in the Elgon Zone.
  • Holistic transformation and development through the church and community.
  • Enhance organizational and staff development so as to build the capacity for implementation of their activities.

UWCM has under community empowerment carried out a number of interventions to bring about change in the lives of people.
