UWCM has worked in communities since 1991; impacting lives of the most vulnerable people and we trust that we can still reach out to more for their welfare and future.
Where we work
Our mandate is to serve the poorest people in the hard to reach communities and areas and or places. We work in the Elgon Zone/region which has seven districts namely; Mbale, Sironko, Manafwa, Bududa, Bulambuli, Namisindwa, and Kapchorwa. Some of these areas are deep in the mountains where most of the other partners cannot go or reach because of the terrain and bad road conditions.

Elgon Zone/Region
In the beginnings of UWCM in early 1990, we supported some families infected and affected by HIV who lived in Tororo, Ikiki-Budaka, Pallisa, and Kumi.
In 2013 and 2014, we extended our services to Abim in Karamoja land and Drucilla Balaba Kabale in Western Uganda and Mbale for economic empowerment of women and adolescent girls supported by the UN Women Fund for Gender Equality. Over 3500 women and girls were reached and supported with living testimonies. UWCM was the umbrella (Lead organization for these organizations).
From 2014 to 2016, we trained over 200 women, adolescent girls, and a few men in functional adult literacy (FAL) in Kapchorwa, Bududa, and Mbale districts.
